anatta is not not useful
Posted
The experience is not good; the cravings, habits, desires. This is neurotic behavior. So anatta is useful, just not an excuse.
When that is no longer acceptable, anatta is a suitable deconstruction
If you understand anatta you won’t get attached to the experience of your own name.
you get a birds-eye view of the expanded process.
the experiencer separates from the experience, but it’s not enough; you are what you experience
anatta theory leads to a dissonance.
If you grasp the practice wrong you will suffer:
when Buddha said, sabbe dhamme anatta, he was well-established in the practice, already quite apart from his own name.
When the self is discovered, it negates itself.
One derivative of anatta is confession.
Re-calibration of the intellect is only the first step.
What happens to attention?
